Although the "Windmill House" fell victim to the Woolsey Fire, a significant portion of the estate remained intact including the charming guest house. Our goal is to restore this magical property utilizing regenerative practices that work with nature to improve our soil, preserve our water and enhance biodiversity.

Westfair was John's dream and passion. Although he no longer lives in Malibu, John maintains a lot of close ties with Malibu residents and after the Woolsey Fire presented Fire Station 88 with a limited-edition print of his work, entitled “God Bless the Firefighters,” which depicts in a century-old artistic style, or what Fairchild described as “art nouveauish,” heroic firefighter hoisting a victim on his back to safety. We are extremely grateful to John's contribution of the historical photos and documents that were preserved from the fire.

"Strengthening the Connection with Nature"
The estate is surrounded by hand-cut blue granite walls; a drinking fountain for passing horses greets the visitor. Large oaks form a grand setting to "WESTFAIR."
The entrance is secured by a 12th century granite tower complete with authentic crossbow slit in crumbling stone covered in moss.
Onward towards the crest of the bluff, the main house provides a noble panorama of forgotten European rustic architecture. The only way to enjoy "WESTFAIR" is to soak oneself in its history.
There are no short cuts to the reconstruction of this fascinating residence. Towers and spires from the main gate flow into the red brick structure on top the bluff. Past the bridge and behind the front door lays the heart of the house. The estate possesses all the attributes and taste of an English landowner.
Hundreds of tons of brick, lumber, slate and outstanding decorative and architectural features from other great mansions of Europe are housed under one very large roof. Hidden behind tightly closed gates is a flamboyant home to match any of the great homes of Vanderbilt, Morgan, Kahn, Guggenheim and other gems found only along the North Shore of Long Island at the turn of the century.
